Dine Out with the Chefs: Sunday, October 4, 2009

Dine Out with the Chefs, created by author Pam Swartz, celebrates the Valley’s exciting dining scene and is a must for anyone who loves food! Now in its fourth year, it has become one of the most prestigious epicurean events in Arizona, attracting the top chefs in town.
Twenty volunteers needed for various duties such as chef’s aides, tickets and bussing.
5 hour commitment, business casual dress

Celebration of the Arts for Kids with Disabilities: November 17, 2009

This eagerly anticipated event is held every fall on the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall and presents one of the few field trip opportunities available to students with mild to severe disabilities. Students participate in arts-and-crafts projects, and are treated to storytelling, magic shows, music, dance, an appearance by Ronald McDonald and a live outdoor concert.
About 100 volunteers needed to assist students with craft projects, to guide groups to their different stations and help with pre-event craft preparation.
A big heart and a smile; 8am-Noon shift

  40th Annual Scottsdale Arts Festival: March 12-14, 2010

Since 1971, the Scottsdale Arts Festival has established a solid reputation as one of the premier arts festivals in the country. Held every March during the height of Scottsdale's tourist season, the Festival draws tens of thousands of visitors in a single three-day weekend. Proceeds from the Festival help support the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts' programs.
Over 300 volunteers are needed in the areas of: Gates/Admissions, Food/Beverage, Kids Area, Retail/Information
All day shifts are from 10 am to 6 pm. Volunteers are given lunch and t-shirts and are required to attend one of two training sessions.

Scottsdale Culinary Festival: April 17 & 18, 2010

As the longest running festival of its kind in the United States, the Scottsdale
Culinary Festival draws more than 40,000 visitors looking to enjoy fabulous food, music and cooking demonstrations by some the nation's top chefs.

Over 300 volunteers are needed in the areas of: Gates/Admissions, Food/Beverage
Volunteers are required to attend one of two training sessions.

Concessions for Late Night Catechism: Begins September 2009, Ongoing

For two years now, the volunteers program has been able to raise money for their own program’s operational costs by providing drinks and snacks to patrons for donations during Late Night Catechism performances. Volunteers set-up a snack cart for pre-show and intermission “sales” and secure funds at the end of each shift.
Prefer volunteers that can commit to an ongoing weekly shift (i.e. Thursday nights) but will gladly accept other arrangements.
2-3 hour shifts; professional attire; honest and outgoing personality

  Patron Services

Part concierge/part membership sales: this position greets the public at a variety of events and performances, sells memberships, and gives information and directions while helping promote the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts programs.
Outgoing, reliable individuals that are willing to learn new information on a regular basis.
2-3 hour shifts; professional attire; outgoing personality

  Usher Program: Ongoing

To volunteer:

Maintain order while greeting and directing patrons to their seats at events
Ushers needed for presented and rental events; ushers fill out an availability form and are scheduled based on event type/needs; 3-4 hour shifts, mostly nights and weekends.
Must be able to walk up and down stairs, operate in dimly lit conditions and read small print on tickets; must be professional, reliable and courteous
Attend a mandatory usher training session:
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 7 pm in Stage 2
or
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 7 pm in Stage 2
