Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is operated by the nonprofit Scottsdale Arts, which also manages Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) and Scottsdale Public Art. A variety of employment, volunteering and internship opportunities are available throughout the organization.

Brazilian Day Arizona
Saturday, September 24, 2016

Description:
A celebration of Brazil’s Independence Day, Brazilian Day Arizona is a family-friendly event that welcomes people of all ages. The day-long festival showcases both indoor and outdoor entertainment, including live performances and interactive demonstrations of Brazilian music, dance and martial arts.

Needs:
Volunteers are needed to assist at admission gates, beverage booths and education stations.

Requirements:
Two, 4-hour shifts are available.

Scottsdale International Film Festival
October 6–10, 2016

Description:
The Scottsdale International Film Festival is an annual five-day destination event that connects audiences with award-winning cinema from around the globe. Each year the Festival showcases a wealth of buzz-worthy dramas, thrillers, romances, comedies and documentaries – from major Academy Award winners to undiscovered indie gems.

Needs:
Volunteers are needed to greet and assist Film Fest attendees at Harkins Shea 14. (Volunteers are given one ticket voucher for each shift served.)

Celebration of the Arts for Children with Disabilities
Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Description:
This eagerly anticipated event is held every fall on the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall and presents one of the few fieldtrip opportunities available to students with mild to severe disabilities. Students participate in arts-and-crafts projects and are treated to storytelling, magic shows, music, dance a live outdoor concert and more.

Needs:
About 50 volunteers are needed to assist students with arts-and-crafts projects, to guide groups to their different stations and to help with pre-event craft preparation.

Requirements:
A big heart and a smile! 8 a.m. – noon.

La Gran Fiesta: A Celebration of Latin and Hispanic Cultures

Description:
La Gran Fiesta is a free annual festival showcasing live Latin music and dance, arts and crafts, fun activities for families, delicious cuisine and more.

Needs:
Volunteers are needed for educational booths and arts-and-crafts stations, noon – 4 p.m.

Canal Convergence Water + Art + Light
February 23-26, 2017

Description:
Canal Convergence is an annual signature event, featuring large-scale interactive artworks by local and international artists, along with hands-on activities, live music and performances.

Needs:
Volunteers are needed for information tables, artist talks and various art locations and activities located up and down the Canal, 4 p.m – 10 p.m.

47th Scottsdale Arts Festival
March 10–12, 2017

Description:
The Scottsdale Arts Festival is one of the premier arts festivals in the country. Held every March during the height of Scottsdale’s tourist season, the Festival draws tens of thousands of visitors in a single three-day weekend. Proceeds from the Festival help support Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ programs.

Needs:
More than 300 volunteers are needed in the areas of: Gates/Admissions, Food/Beverage, Family Area, Retail/Information.

Requirements:
All-day shifts are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteers are given lunch and T-shirts and are required to attend one of two training sessions.

Scottsdale Culinary Festival
April 8–9, 2017

Description:
As the longest-running festival of its kind in the United States, the Scottsdale Culinary Festival draws more than 40,000 visitors looking to enjoy fabulous food, music and cooking demonstrations by some the nation’s top chefs.

Needs:
More than 300 volunteers are needed in the areas of: Gates/Admissions and Food/Beverage.

Requirements:
Volunteers are required to attend one of two training sessions.

Concierge Program

Description:
This position greets the public at a variety of events and performances, sells memberships and gives information and directions while helping promote the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ programs.

Needs:
Outgoing, reliable individuals who are willing to learn new information on a regular basis.

Requirements:
2–3 hour shifts; professional attire; outgoing personality.

Concierge eligibility training will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at 6 p.m. or Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at 6 p.m. in the Mezzanine Conference Room. Contact us at Volunteer@ScottsdaleArts.org to RSVP.


Usher Program

Description:
Maintain order while greeting and directing patrons to their seats at events.

Needs:
Ushers are needed for presented and rental events; ushers fill out an availability form and are scheduled based on event type/needs; 3–4 hour shifts, mostly nights and weekends.

Requirements:
Must be able to walk up and down stairs, operate in dimly lit conditions and read small print on tickets; must be professional, reliable and courteous.

Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m.
and/or
Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, 10 a.m. – noon.

Training sessions will be held in Stage 2 and must be completed before any ushering duties are carried out. RSVP to Volunteer@ScottsdaleArts.org to attend one of the sessions. Current ushers are required to attend one training session a year.

Internships

Internships with the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and Scottsdale Arts are determined on an as-needed basis. Internship opportunities with these divisions include development/fundraising, marketing, programming and human resources.
