The Center Stage Awards are part of the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ nationally recognized education department, providing arts outreach and education activities throughout Scottsdale and metro-Phoenix.
Modeled after the Tony Awards, the Center Stage Awards are presented as a formal dress awards ceremony for high school theater students. |

The Center Stage Awards Ceremony will take place Wednesday, May 13, 2009 @
7 p.m. at Arcadia High School 4703 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix AZ 85018
6:30 p.m. Red Carpet Arrival
Tickets go on sale April 8th, 2009
$10 for students
$18 for adults

| How: |
To participate in the Center Stage Awards, schools must have their submitted plays and/or musicals adjudicated by members of a judges panel made up of theater-industry professionals from the metro-Phoenix area. These adjudicators make recommendations for nominations in specific categories for work both on and backstage. After all productions have been evaluated, the judges meet to review the productions, discuss the nominations and select award recipients. The nominees are then invited to attend the awards ceremony, which features performances of production numbers from nominated musicals. Award presenters include local celebrities, leading theater professionals and business leaders. |

Special Recognition Awards
The Center Stage Award’s panel may choose to recognize an outstanding student achievement that does not fit into any of the above categories. For example, in our pilot year, a student composed an original score to The Importance of Being Earnest, earning a special recognition award for “Original Score." |
