Eduardo Vilaro, Artistic Director April 9–10, 2010, Friday and Saturday @ 8 p.m. Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts The NEW Virginia G. Piper Theater
Ballet Hispanico has roused audiences worldwide with its magnetic energy, vivacious choreography and sheer passion. The aclaimed company's 13 members perform works by the foremost Latino choreographers of our time as well as those of emerging artists.
Ballet Hispanico will perform a selection of new and classic works, including Club Havana (2000), an intoxicating mix of conga, rumba, mambo and cha-cha; Destino Incierto (2008), an emotional journey taken by three timeless characters struggling to find harmony for themselves and with one another; Tríptico (2009), an elegant fusion of Latin rhythms and dance; and Batucada Fantástica (company premiere 1982), evoking the essence of Brazilian Carnival through eight electric solos, culminating in a riotous ensemble finale.
This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
