The Afiara String Quartet takes its name from the Spanish word fiar, meaning ‘to trust,’ one of the guiding principles of chamber musicians. Recently named The Juilliard School’s graduate resident string quartet, this vibrant, young Canadian ensemble won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York, following a top prize at the prestigious Munich ARD International Music Competition.
