She’s won four Tonys – three of them before the age of 30 – and two Grammys, stars on the hit ABC drama Private Practice and is frequently compared to legendary performers such as Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. The extraordinary Audra McDonald returns to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts to fill in for Bernadette Peters, who had to cancel her appearance due to the extended run of her current Broadway show, A Little Night Music.
Like all great artists, Ms. McDonald is a unique force, blending a luscious, classically trained soprano with an incomparable gift for dramatic truth-telling. In addition to her theatrical work, she is a renowned concert and recording artist, appearing regularly on the great stages of the world.
Joined by a jazz trio, Ms. McDonald will perform an intimate evening of Broadway favorites, classic Hollywood songs and original music written for this extraordinary artist who is at the height of her expressive powers.
