November 7–8, 2008, Friday and Saturday @ 8 p.m.
Theater 4301, Galleria Corporate Centre, Scottsdale
Ignite Tickets: $35
The Spaghetti Western Orchestra rides into town, with a wagon train of instruments, to perform all the classic Ennio Morricone music, including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly ; Once Upon a Time in the West ; and For a Few Dollars More . With a fistful of humor and a bucket-load of fun, the orchestra underscores these brilliant musical adventures. All the sound effects of the iconic spaghetti western movies – every punch up, gunshot and jangling spur – are recreated using coat hangers, cornflakes, nail clippers, rubber gloves and other ingenious ‘instruments' pulled from their saddlebag of tricks.

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Atrium

If "esperanza" is the Spanish word for hope, then bassist, vocalist and composer Esperanza Spalding could not have been given a more fitting name at birth. Blessed with uncanny instrumental chops, a multi-lingual voice that is part angel and part siren and a natural beauty that borders on the hypnotic, the 23-year-old prodigy-turned-pro might well be the hope for the future of jazz and instrumental music. This intimate, cabaret-style performance includes table seating for two to four and wine and food available for purchase. Seating is limited.

Was your first time awkward or "like Christmas morning!" (Story #19553)? Were you with your high school sweetheart or with your psychology professor (Story #7779)? Were you in Washington Square Park (Story #5049) or a Burger King bathroom (Story #2995)? If you did it, you probably remember it. And now you can hear about everyone else's!
My First Time is a new play in the style of The Vagina Monologues that features four actors telling hysterical and heartbreaking stories about first sexual experiences written by real people … just like you. In 1998, nearly a decade before blogging began, a Web site was created that allowed people to anonymously share their own true stories about their "First Times." The site became an instant phenomenon with more than 40,000 stories pouring in from around the globe that were silly, sweet, absurd, funny, straight, gay, shy, sexy and everything in between. And now, these true stories and all of the unique characters in them are brought to life in this acclaimed 90-minute play, presented by Ken Davenport, the producer of Altar Boyz and creator of The Awesome 80s Prom .
Presented with support from Leslie Dashew and Jack Salisbury.
CONCERTS UNDER THE STARS: MADELEINE PEYROUX
March 31, 2009, Tuesday @ 7:30 p.m.
Scottsdale Civic Center Mall Amphitheater
Ignite Tickets: $35
Madeleine Peyroux is either an old soul or was born with it; that became apparent in 1996, with the release of her debut album, Dreamland, a remarkably knowing work in which the young singer brought commensurate insightfulness to material associated with Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Patsy Cline. Now 32, the Georgia-born Peyroux, who spent a decade living in Paris, brings a wealth of life experience to her newest album, Half the Perfect World , an extremely personal collection of love songs featuring original compositions and covers by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Fred Neil and Joni Mitchell.
