Presented in conjunction with Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ Discovery Series and Sunday A’Fair, OrigiNation offers the opportunity to learn about native cultures in Arizona and India through music, song, dance, storytelling and more. Visitors enjoy an arts and crafts market; creative projects for kids and families; cultural demonstrations and displays in the OrigiNation Learning Village; and delicious native-inspired foods and beverages.

1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Storytellling in Indian Classical Dance (Kathak): Pandit Chitresh Das demonstrates the abhinaya, or mime and storytelling aspect of Kathak dance. A rare opportunity to view the subtleties of this master artist as he showcases the Navarasa, or nine sentiments, and how each artist must embody the masculine and feminine, invoking the ancient concept of Ardhanariswara.
