Live & Local Fridays—Cabaret
Pat Roberts and the Heymakers perform authentic rockabilly and honky-tonk music, influenced by the likes of Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Hank Williams. Right out of high school, Roberts began playing the clubs along Whiskey Row in his native Prescott, Arizona, before moving on to larger music scenes in Phoenix and San Diego. Now playing with the Phoenix-based Heymakers, Roberts combines his signature voice and echo-drenched, twangy guitar with the rhythm section of Paul Thomas (Bo Diddley, Ike Turner) on upright bass and Ed Michaels (Alvin Youngblood Hart, Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings) on drums. Their sound is faithful to the influences of yesteryear while still forging their own way forward.
