Discovery Series Cuba
The nightclub Gato Tuerto is surely the most symbolic Cuban cabaret. For 55 years, it has been the refuge of the so-called intellectual bohemia in Havana. Cuba’s most important musicians have performed on its little stage, including Omara Portuondo, Pablo Milanés, César Portillo de La Luz, Meme Solis, Elena Burke, Juana Bacallao and Chucho Valdés, among others. It also holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest bolero. This documentary tells the story of the legendary cabaret and its founders, artists and clients, while examining the history of Havana’s culture and nightlife over five decades.
