Enjoy an evening of cutting edge, immersive art experiences, a sophisticated culinary presentation, an auction filled with unique objects and adventures and an awe-inspiring live performance by Broadway star Matthew Morrison. Guests will also witness an exclusive preview of a re-imagined Scottsdale Arts campus, including improvements to the Dayton Fowler Grafman Atrium, Stage 2, and more.

Proceeds from the Scottsdale Arts Gala support the dynamic and diverse performances, exhibitions, installations and arts education and outreach programs presented by Scottsdale Arts.

Scottsdale Arts Gala will begin with a silent auction, passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Guests also will enjoy the exhibitions on view at SMoCA including Double Agents: Carla Fernández and Pedro Reyes. Dinner will be served in the Dayton Fowler Grafman Atrium, which will be transformed by Scottsdale Public Art and Jeff Zischke’s radiate, a temporary sculptural light installation designed for the interior of Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, with a performance by Matthew Morrison following in the Virginia G. Piper Theater.

Enjoy an American culinary experience paired with fine wines, an auction filled with unique objects (including travel packages) and the concert.

Support the arts at our signature fundraising soiree, playfully described as gala lite. Raise a toast to the contemporary with an elegant pre-concert cocktail reception at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Enjoy artfully crafted drinks and culinary bites while exploring the dynamic museum exhibitions.

Guests are encouraged to deepen their support of the arts by participating in a silent auction filled with unique objects and adventures. Following the cocktail reception, guests will head next door to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, where they will enjoy an exciting live auction and the Scottsdale Arts debut of Matthew Morrison in the Virginia G. Piper Theater.

About the Artist

MatthewMorrisonTony, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Matthew Morrison headlines the annual Scottsdale Arts Gala.

Morrison starred on Broadway as J.M Barrie musical Finding Neverland, a musical that follows the relationship between Barrie and the Davies family, who became the author’s inspiration for the creation of Peter Pan. Morrison received two Drama Desk nominations for his role, and won the category of “Favorite Actor in a Musical” in the Broadway.com Audience Awards.

The multi-talented performer also appeared in a continuing role on the CBS television hit show The Good Wife, where he played U.S. Attorney Connor Fox through the series finale. Other television credits include guest star roles in seasons 13 and 14 of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, and a starring role as director of the glee club in Fox’s musical-comedy show Glee, which received the Golden Globe award for “Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical” in 2010 and 2011.

Morrison studied musical theater, vocal performance and dance at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He made his debut on Broadway in Footloose but his big break came when he was cast as heartthrob Link Larkin in the hit Hairspray. Morrison was later nominated for a Tony Award for his role in The Light in the Piazza, and received a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical” for 10 Million Miles. He also starred in the Tony-winning revival of South Pacific at Lincoln Center Theater in New York.

With friend and colleague Zach McDuffie, Morrison launched Sherpapa in 2017. The lifestyle and retail company provides heirloom-quality goods and collections for new dads.

  • Rosemary Scented Shrimp – with seasonal citrus salsa on a cocktail fork.
  • Chicken Waldorf Salad – served in a colorful endive cup.
  • Marinated Ahi Tuna – wasabi aioli, micro arugula, served in an edible cone.

Course 2

Romaine Martini
Grilled hearts of romaine, oven-roasted tomatoes, toasted black pepper asiago.
Served with roasted garlic vinaigrette mini martini.
Each salad garnished with a custom bread spear topped with green olive pâté to complete the perfect martini.

Course 3

(choice of one)

Chicken Breast and Tender Beef Duet

Tender beef with sautéed spinach, garlic and smoky baked gouda.
Clutched in flaky layers of pasty.
Served with a roasted, petite, frenched breast of chicken.
Topped in a classic beurre blanc sauce.
Accompanied by sweet potato puree, broccolini florets, with a spinach oil drizzle.

Stuffed Portobello (vegetarian)

Grilled portobello with quinoa.
Topped with sliced tomatoes.
Served with grilled baby peppers, croccolini and a roasted red pepper sauce.
Baked to perfection, drizzled with balsamic and spinach oil, and garnished with fresh basil.

Course 4

Butternut Squash Crème Brûlée
With a red wine poached pear and a sweet cranberry compote.
Garnished with edible mini flowers.
